When is the best time to drill a well during the construction of a new home? How do I choose a location for my well? Can you tell how deep will my well go? Is there a way to know how much water my well will produce? Can I have my land doused to determine a location for drilling? Does my well come with a warranty?
Q: When is the best time to drill a well during the construction of a new home? A: After gravel has been laid on the driveway and before the foundation is poured is the ideal time to drill the well at your new home. At this point in the process, we do not disturb the framers and other tradesmen on the site. As construction continues, the excavating company can dig the trench to connect the well line. Once the house is framed and enclosed, we will return to install the pump and tank.
Q: How do I choose a location for my well? A: The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services has state laws regulating the location of a private water well on a lot. General guidelines include: 1. Depending on the town you live in, the location of your well must be carefully placed from 75 to 100 feet from your septic tank, leach field, and stump dumps 2. Proximity to house and overall fit into site plan. Be sure to locate your well in a place that will not interfere with future building plans on your site 3. Topography (trees, existing landscaping, slopes). The drilling rig will require secure, flat footing and a clearance of 50 feet overhead.
Q: Can you tell how deep will my well go? A: No. There’s no way to determine how deep a well will go, but there are indicators of possible depth in the rock conditions that have been documented in the area you plan to drill. Because we have been in the water well business for more than 70 years, we can share with you our knowledge of depths in your area.
Q: Is there a way to know how much water my well will produce? A: No. Unfortunately, there is no way to predict in advance how much water your well will produce. We share our knowledge of Southern New Hampshire wells to give you an idea of how wells in the area produce.
Q: Can I have my land doused to determine a location for drilling? A: Yes. You may use a douser of your choosing, and we will gladly drill in the location of your choice as long as it fits within State guidelines.
Q: Does my well come with a warranty? A: Yes. We guarantee the quality of well drilling. Warranties of up to 5 years are available. Not applicable on all systems. Please ask for details.
